System Ultra Shelf

Shelves for System Ultra hang from the wall rail on brass hangers, and move up or down whenever the room changes.

Four kinds: two plain depths, a magazine and shoe shelf, and a shelf with a clothes rail underneath.

The moulded veneer is 2.8 inches thick, which is what gives System Ultra its weight on the wall. Shelves need a rail to hang from, sold separately.

Each shelf holds up to 33 lbs and may deflect slightly over time.

Oil. Matt lacquer is not available on System Ultra.

Designer Poul Cadovius (1911-2011) trained as an upholsterer before founding his furniture company, Royal System, in 1945. His idea was to move furniture off the floor and onto the walls, leaving more space in the room, and it gave rise to Royal System (1948), System Ultra (1957) and System Cado (1960). Over his career he held more than 400 patents. In 2009, at the age of 98, he was approached by DK3 founder Jacob Plejdrup to relaunch Royal System, and today DK3 holds the licences for all three systems and the Pia Chair. Brand
