Pira Organiser

An organiser and divider in solid walnut or white oak adds materiality to the metal shelving. The compartments organise smaller items that cannot stand upright on the shelf. Placed directly on the shelf. Pira generation two is a contemporary interpretation of the original Pira from 1954, designed by Anna von Schewen and Björn Dahlström. The modular system can be freestanding with floor to ceiling tension, or wall mounted.

String Furniture is a Swedish company founded in 2004 by Peter Erlandsson and Pär Josefsson, who took over the manufacturing rights from Nisse and Kajsa Strinning. The Strinnings designed the String System in 1949 for a competition run by the Swedish publisher Bonniers Folkbibliotek, and won first prize. Its shelves, cabinets and work desks are modular components that hang from wall and floor panels, and 95% of its furniture is made in Sweden.

Architect and designer Anna von Schewen is considered one of Sweden's most progressive and experimental designers, and has designed several products for String Furniture together with her partner Björn Dahlström. Dahlström is a well established Swedish industrial designer whose work is represented in museums around the world, including the National Museum for Art, Architecture and Design in Oslo, the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The new Pira builds on the 1954 original by Olle Pira.
