Werner is a family of wood turners from Funen, Denmark, working out of Gislev Drejerforretning, a turning joinery founded in 1913. The family adopted the Shoemaker Chair, a design dating from 1936, in the 1970s and has refined it over three generations, adding T-shaped legs for stability and reshaping the seat. The designer and the wood turner are still one and the same, and the chairs are still made in the family joinery.
