Louis Poulsen
Louis Poulsen began in Copenhagen in 1874 as a wine importer and moved into lighting in 1892, as electricity reached the city. Poul Henningsen developed his three-shade system for the company in 1925, first shown at a Paris exhibition, and worked with Louis Poulsen for the next four decades. The shades are shaped to hide the bulb from every angle, directing light where it is needed without glare. Arne Jacobsen and Verner Panton later designed for the company as well.
