Vilhelm Wohlert designed the Wohlert pendant in 1959. Louis Poulsen tasked him with designing a pendant for various sized rooms, with easy installation, bulb changes and maintenance.

Designer

Vilhelm Wohlert (1920-2007) was a prominent Danish architect and professor at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from 1968 to 1986, where he also served as Deputy CEO. He designed the Louisiana Art Museum and collaborated with Louis Poulsen on notable luminaires, including the Magnum light. Throughout his career, he received several prestigious awards, including the C.F. Hansen medal in 1979 and the Gold Medal in 1946.
