String Furniture is a Swedish company founded in 2004 by Peter Erlandsson and Pär Josefsson, who took over the manufacturing rights from Nisse and Kajsa Strinning. The Strinnings designed the String System in 1949 for a competition run by the Swedish publisher Bonniers Folkbibliotek, and won first prize. Its shelves, cabinets and work desks are modular components that hang from wall and floor panels, and 95% of its furniture is made in Sweden.

Founded by architects Nisse and Kajsa Strinning, String Furniture introduced the iconic String® System in 1949, a Scandinavian shelving design celebrated for its modular storage and timeless style. From the classic String® System to the compact String® Pocket, their creations embody the principle that form follows function. Still produced in Sweden, String Furniture remains a global symbol of modern Scandinavian design.
