VL Ring Crown Wall 2

The wall lamp emits light directed primarily downwards. The opal glass provides a comfortable and uniform illumination of the area around the fixture.

The VL Ring Crown family originated from a lamp designed by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in the 1940s. Although the original lamp wasn't used there, a version based on its designs was launched soon after and was later incorporated into the interiors of the Bing & Grøndahl porcelain manufacturer. Reintroduced in 2019, the VL Ring Crown features untreated polished brass and glossy white opal glass shades, offering a distinct and warm illumination for contemporary interiors.

Designer Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894–1984) was a pioneering Danish architect and a key figure in functionalism, known for iconic buildings like Nørrebro Theatre, Radiohuset, and Kastrup Airport. His architectural philosophy centered on the belief that architecture is applied art and essential to life, which he demonstrated through his masterful use of both daylight and artificial lighting. Lauritzen's light fixtures, beginning with the Universal pendant in the late 1920s, combined directed light with diffuse illumination, and many of his designs became part of Louis Poulsen’s collection in the mid-20th century.
