PH 3-2½ Bollard Lighting
The fixture is designed based on the principle of a reflective three-shade system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The shades have a matte white painted interior surface, diffusing the light in a comfortable way.
Poul Henningsen introduced his pioneering three-shade system in 1925/1926, initially showcased at a Paris exhibition. Collaborating with Louis Poulsen until his death in 1967, Henningsen aimed to create glare-free lighting with incandescent bulbs, directing light precisely and casting soft shadows. The PH 3/2½ Bollard, part of a family of 19 versions, exemplifies his design principles. Over a thousand models, including lamps and chandeliers popular in the 1930s, offered various color and size options, evolving from metal to glass shades. Henningsen's scientific approach, using the logarithmic spiral, ensured even light distribution and controlled glare. Model numbers correspond to shade sizes, with hybrid adaptations like the PH 3/2½ Bollard, introduced in 2005, accommodating diverse lighting needs.
