Designer Jens Risom (1916-2016), was a Danish American designer who studied under Kaare Klint alongside Hans J. Wegner and later emigrated to the United States, where he helped popularize Scandinavian modern furniture. As Knoll’s first designer he created webbed lounge pieces from surplus parachute straps and later crafted enduring works for Fredericia, including the A Chair and Magazine Table, guided by a modest, functional approach to form.
