No. 1 Sofa, 3 Seater
The No. 1 Sofa was the first sofa series that Mogensen designed for Fredericia, and it marked the start of a close collaboration. Mogensen imbued the No. 1 Sofa with his masterful sense of materials and proportions, emphasising the horizontal and vertical lines, with clean angular armrests.
In 1955, when Andreas Graversen acquired Fredericia, he appointed Børge Mogensen as Head of Design with the condition that the brand's future would reflect Mogensen’s honest, functional approach to design. The No. 1 Sofa was Mogensen’s first series for Fredericia and marked the beginning of their long-standing collaboration. Characterized by clean, angular lines, a tightly upholstered wooden frame, and soft, buttoned cushions, the design reflects Mogensen’s refined sense of proportion and his commitment to creating practical furniture for everyday living.
