Royal System Shelf

The iconic shelving system Royal System was designed in 1948 by legendary Danish designer and manufacturer Poul Cadovius and relaunched by DK3 in 2010. It was one of the world's first wall-mounted furniture systems and was created on the innovative principle to move the furniture off the floor and onto the walls.

Royal System comes in various wood types and comprises wall-mounted rails, shelves with hangers in brass or stainless steel and various cabinets.

Notes
Shelves hang on the Royal System rail, sold separately.
Each shelf holds up to 33 lbs and may deflect slightly over time.
Since brass is softer than steel, shelves with brass hangers are expected to warp more than shelves with steel hangers.
Not compatible with Royal System parts made before 1985.
Oak and walnut are also available in matt lacquer at the same price.

Care
Avoid direct sunlight and heat from radiators or other heat sources.
Maintain a consistent humidity of 30-60%.
Avoid placing hot or damp objects directly on the furniture.

Designer Poul Cadovius (1911-2011) trained as an upholsterer before founding his furniture company, Royal System, in 1945. His idea was to move furniture off the floor and onto the walls, leaving more space in the room, and it gave rise to Royal System (1948), System Ultra (1957) and System Cado (1960). Over his career he held more than 400 patents. In 2009, at the age of 98, he was approached by DK3 founder Jacob Plejdrup to relaunch Royal System, and today DK3 holds the licences for all three systems and the Pia Chair. Brand
