PH Artichoke Glass

PH Artichoke Glass is a sculptural pendant by Louis Poulsen that pairs 72 handmade sandblasted glass leaves with a high lustre chrome frame to deliver soft, glare free illumination from every angle. The glass leaves diffuse and reflect light to create a calm, even glow while the transparent, ice like expression keeps the fixture visually light in contemporary spaces. First created as the PH Artichoke for Copenhagen’s Langelinie Pavilion in 1958, the glass edition was introduced in 2008 and draws on Poul Henningsen’s earlier Septima studies for layered glass and light control.

Born in Copenhagen to writers Agnes Henningsen and Carl Ewald, Henningsen initially practiced functionalist architecture but became famous for his innovative lighting designs. During WWII, he briefly served as the head architect for Tivoli Gardens before fleeing to Sweden, where he joined a community of Danish artists. Brand
