Poul Henningsen for Louis Poulsen PH80 Floor Lamp

Poul Henningsen PH80 floor lamp for Louis Poulsen. The PH80 was put into production after Henningsen's death, as a celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday. A designer focused on the future, Henningsen had been working with plastic materials as the new material for his fixtures. The PH 80 floor lamp is made of opal acrylics, instead of glass, with the intention of making a less expensive product with the same lighting characteristics as a glass fixture.

The PH 80 floor lamp emits diffused light with the majority directed downward. The opal acrylic shades provide comfortable lighting, while the red hue of the top reflector gives the light a warm glow. The PH 80 floor lamp is composed of a black base with a chrome-plated steel stem with white opal acrylic bottom shades and a black polycarbonate top shade.
